Sports Centre Refurbishment Appeal
Support the refurbishment of The YMCA Reading Sports Centre
YMCA Reading are currently raising funds to refurbish the very tired Milward Sports Centre. Funds are being raised to carry-out a complete refurbishment of the building to make it more appealing and accessible and to provide modern facilities including: new toilets and changing rooms, heating, lighting, tea point, refreshed courtyard and entrance with ramp entrances, and much more. We are looking to raise £275,000, and have already raised £200,000 so your help could just get us to our target!
The YMCA Reading Sports Centre first opened its doors in 1953. Its primary purpose over the years has been to provide a sport and leisure space for YMCA residents, local Youth Groups, and the general public.
Progress is being made, Milward customers may know that we are currently re-roofing the sports centre in phases, with Phase 1 completed in April. The new roof lights have made a huge difference. Phase 2 will begin at the end of term in July.
YMCA Reading Sports Centre is still used to this day, but the building has been neglected for many years with no significant investment since the 1970's. We are therefore seeking donations which will enable us to make vital refurbishments to the building, including:
- New heating
- A new roof
- Disabled access
- Modern toilets and changing facilities
- A complete repaint and refresh
We have already received a donation of £75,000 from Sports England and we now need to match this donation from public donations and fundraising to enable us to start the refurbishment.
If you’d like to support us by fundraising or making a donation to YMCA Reading, you can donate online now or contact us.
