Padworth Activity Centre – More Active than ever
8th May 2019

With the appointment of Rachel James as Centre Manager back in January the Padworth Activity Centre is now buzzing with activity. Berkshire Scout Groups continue to use the Centre for regular meetings but the centre is now being used by a wide range of other community groups as well. Recent activities include:

  • Parkside Pre-School Woodland Learning day, we hope to see many more of these days out with our Pre-School. The youngsters love the experience of learning in the outdoors. See our appeals pages to help us raise money to get them there more often.
  • Pauline Quirk Academy (PQA) https://www.pqacademy.com/academies/reading/ have been at Padworth using it as a filming location for training up and coming film and theatre professionals. Watch this space as they have also offered to make YMCA Reading a promotional video!
  • Wokingham Social Services use the centre for away days and quiet one-to ones.
  • More and more schools are booking the centre for a variety of activities.
  • YMCA Reading Sleep Easy Event is booked for the night of the 2nd of August. This family friendly sleep-out is designed to raise money for our young people while also having a bit of outdoor fun. This is a sponsored event. See: for full details
  • The Centre is used as a base for Duke of Edinburgh Award Challenges.

Recently we had a full tree survey onsite and remedial work has now taken place to ensure all trees are healthy and safe.
