I joined YMCA Reading August 2017 having previously served on the Board of Trustees I was very familiar with the very good work that is done with young people here. Previously I worked for CCB championing affordable housing in rural communities.
I have lived and travelled all over the world, love to read and cook. Used to like to run, but those days are gone replaced by a passion for yoga.
HR & Training Manager
As the HR & Training Manager for YMCA Reading, my role is to provide effective HR functions across the organisation and support the CEO and Managers to effectively achieve their business strategies. I was recently heavily involved in the organisations achievement of Investors In People Silver Award. Having taken up running a few years ago, I have completed the Reading Half Marathon and various 5km and 10km races. In 2015, I have started running 10km cross country muddy races, which includes overcoming various obstacles (climbing, crawling, weights), freezing cold water challenges and lots of mud!
I am the Office Administrator and manage all the external bookings for the YMCA facilities. I assist with the invoicing and am the secretary to the Board of Trustees.
Financial Controller (Volunteer)
I am Bill and I am in and out of the office throughout the week. I am in charge of banking, expenditures, payroll and other financial enquiries. I volunteer for the company as I have previously worked as a accountant for another company before I retired.
Ray Tapken is YMCA Reading's fundraiser and newsletter writer. Ray fundraises for the extra costs that are very much needed for the YMCA to keep developing and improving. Ray has been with us for over 15 years volunteering his services to our organisation. Ray has written over 400 newsletters for us and fundraised thousands of pounds. We are truly grateful for Ray's exceptional effort and participation.
YMCA enables people to develop their full potential in mind,
body and spirit. Inspired by, and faithful to our Christian values,
we create supportive, inclusive and energising communities
where young people can truly belong, contribute and thrive.
