Activity Centre New Classroom Appeal
We need your help to raise £2,371 for a new outdoor classroom at the YMCA's Padworth Outdoor Activity Centre.
The Padworth Activity Centre is a vital resource for learning, play, and community activities, and is frequently used by schools, Scouts and Guides, youth groups, private functions, and corporate team building.
We have identified the need to develop the facility to provide a covered outdoor classroom area for all the different groups to enjoy. To do this we need to raise £2,371 in donations from our supporters and the community.
Our facility is located within the woods and also has an open paddock and this is where we would like to construct the outdoor classroom. This will provide the opportunity for key outdoor learning opportunities.
At present we have our main building, but building the outdoor classroom would provide many more opportunities for the local community to make use of the space, learn about the woodland and the environment they are in, and be out in the fresh air. Whether it's children or adults from the community using the facility, they will all benefit from being outside, both mentally and physically.
Once the classroom is built, we will be able to offer Forest School sessions to local schools. This means getting the children out of the inside classroom and learning outside in nature. Many children don't get the opportunity to do this, and with the rise in young people using technology, outdoor activities help to get them away from this and broaden their knowledge and skills. All people are different and sometimes those that struggle in an indoor classroom setting can suddenly thrive when they are outside learning.
Youth groups and other groups using the facility will be able to use the classroom to run their outdoor activities from. This could be anything from survival skills, bush-craft skills or using the space to prepare and cook a meal outdoors.
Help us fund the build of an outdoor classroom at our outdoor activity centre, our target is to raise £2,371. For full details or to give a donation click the button below:Donate & Details
