Jeena International #safersummercampaign

On July 16th YMCA Reading attended Jeena International #safersummercampaign at Singh Sabha Sports centre. The day’s agenda consisted of a number of lecturers from a panel of 5 key speakers giving a brief lecture of the discussed topical issues of the day which were Female Genital Mutilation, Forced Marriage and Holiday grooms.

The Panel of speakers included keynote Speaker Anthony Stansfeld Police and Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley Pilice, Marie Jenkinson representing the Forced marriage unit, Manjeet puar for Cameron Clarke Solicitors, Veronica Zaki a safeguarding order officer for UK boarder Force, our very own Business Development Manager Colin Young for YMCA Reading and Rani Bilkhu – Director of Jeena International #SaferSummerCampaign

The day included a number of heart-felt case studies, discussions of awareness of the central issues, a ‘Needlecraft’ FGM Film put together by FORWARD and a question and answer discussion to the panel.

We were delighted to have been invited and to attend Jeena’s #SaferSummerCampaign, to which we are extremely proud to have a close partnership with Jeena as working together we can do more!
